Let me tell you about myself!
Hi! Thank you for subscribing to my newsletter!
My name is Alondra Araujo, although you may call me Al. I love both names and like my pronouns, please feel free to use them interchangeably. I go by any pronouns!
I’ve wanted to start a newsletter and blog for a while now where I can post my work-in-progress comics, thoughts, and general goals for my comic endeavors. For as long as I can remember, I have struggled with posting my art and thoughts online because I struggle with sharing things about myself. I’ve always found it easier to talk and boast about my friends’ creative projects. But when it was my turn to talk about myself, I’d freeze or deflect.
I’m hoping that by starting a substack I can get out of my shell and share what I’ve been up to :)
So, what have I been up to?
Currently, I am working on the following comics:
Mi Tio Hernán, a YA graphic novel with Feiwel & Friends/Macmillan, scheduled for publication in Winter 2028
Preparing my first ever Kickstarter for my short comic El Panadero Y Le Chice, a trans for trans meet-cute comic set in a Mexican bakery; and
Caught Like a Fly, a short queer comic that follows two best friends visiting La Junta’s Tarantula Festival where feelings are caught in arachnophobic webs
I do have other future projects I’d like to work on, but those are the three main comics currently on my plate.
I hope I can share the behind-the-scenes of these comics as well as share my adventures as a comic creator going forward.
